The 2022 Art de Vries Memorial Cup & Annual Club Celebration
The Labour Day long weekend is fast approaching and with it comes one of the most important events for members and friends of the IPYC. We carry on with a tradition going back more than 55 years with a sailing event (race) that now also honours our departed friend Art de Vries and his contribution to sailing and our club.
This day is also meant to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements that have been realized through the participation and involvement of club members over the last 55 years.
The 2022 Art de Vries Memorial Cup will take place on Sunday, 4 September 2022.
To register : Registration Form
Each participating sailboat/skipper will be assigned a starting time with the first boats starting at approximately 12 PM and the last boats starting approximately 60 minutes later. There will be a skipper’s meeting on the deck of our clubhouse beginning at 10:45 AM; all participating skippers are welcome.
At the event last year some participants decided to wear costumes to add to the festive atmosphere of the day. We invite interested participants to do the same this year.
A list of IPYC boats/skippers will be posted on the IPYC Bulletin board before the weekend of 13 August 2022. The assigned starting times will be posted at a later date.
Members are requested to check the list to ensure their names appear and to indicate their intentions to participate in the sailing event. You can register for the sailing event, celebration event and volunteer work by filling out the registration form you will receive by email. Members not wishing to join fellow members and friends on the water can help make the day memorable by helping out with food preparation, serving and cleaning up for the meal after the activities on the water. You are asked to sign up for the meal by 5 PM, 1 September 2022 indicating the number of persons to be fed.
So we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, 4 September 2022 at the IPYC and/or on the water!
